The aim of the club was to foster an interest in the Appaloosa breed of
horse by making the public aware of the beauty and ability of this oldest identified breed of horse. They did this by
promoting the training of both horse and rider in the art of presenting and showing their horses at halter and in western
performance events.
The club's first official "A" class western performance show was held on
2 June 1979 in conjunction with the Bundaberg Agricultural Show.
In 1982 the Club chose to encourage other breeds to compete in their western
performance competition by awarding a trophy to the highest point earning non-appaloosa performance horse for the season.
On 12 and 13 June 1982 the BWBRAC were host to the very 1st Queensland State
Appaloosa Championships. This major event brought 100 horses to compete, some coming from as far away as Cloncurry.
It boasted prize money of $6000 and consisted of 15 halter classes, 28 performance classes and 19 youth classes.
The club has also a proud history of youth being selected to represent Australia
at Championship shows in America. There have also been several of our youth members chosen to represent the Australian
Appaloosa Association as Appaloosa Princesses.
